Sick Yet Unaware - Jerry Udom

Apparently, sickness comes in several forms. Some are very severe and others are in a mild form. In so many cases, 'the sick' will not be useful to himself and to others. At this stage of un-usefulness, such individual needs an urgent medical attention.

But while the recovery and healing is dependent partly on the medication and wholely(entirely) on the God-factor, it is imperative to mention that such patient must recognize and be aware that s/he is sick.




The common assertion of dying with any sickness as a result of hiding such sickness should be more emphasized and strongly articulated. With this, people will begin to understand the important of self examination in order to note their state of living.

Meanwhile, this self examination is needed even in LEADERSHIP. With the increase in the numbers of sick leaders leading us in various levels, one need to enquire if 'they' are even AWARE of their supposed sicknesses.




One of the most dangerous form of sicknesses so disturbing amongst this set of leaders is, SELF GLORIFICATION AND EXALTATION. This tiny virus has eaten deep and destroyed so many occupying leadership positions. It has make nonsense of the very essence of leading.

In providing medication or if you may, a cure to the virus called; SELF GLORIFICATION AND EXALTATION, the caregiver must be mindful of the potency of  this virus itself. As it may be compared to Ebola, this 'SGE' virus can be contacted at ease.




Such leader who suffers from 'SGE' virus should as a matter of urgency first realize and admit that he is sick and then seek a medical attention. Attempting to treat a sickness that doesn't exist will amount to pursuing a wind that can't be hold.

Pharmacists are well conversant with the functioning or otherwise of different drugs relating to different sicknesses. Such as in the 'Leadership Pharmacy', there exist so many pills for curing and arresting this virus.

One of such drugs is; Humility. Leadership doesn't suggest proudness. It isn't a measure of how pompous an individual could be. Neither it is a platform to exhibit rudeness and harshness. Any leader who's not humble in mind and action as already fallen sick.




Inculcating and maintaining Humbleness  will provide such sick leaders with an opportunity to learn from even the list of his lieutenant. Suggestions, advises and ideas will be listened to and followed. Alot will be achieved because teamwork will be invoke. None is better fighting alone. Glorifying and exalting yourself as a leader is just one sure way of sustaining and spreading this very dangerous virus. Leaders, please resist it and seek for cure.
