AE-FUNAI SUG: Directorate Of Transport "Friday Free Ride" May Not Hold.

The Directorate of Transport of the Students Union Government of the Alex Ekwueme Federal University Ndufu-Alike Ikwo has on Sunday Morning made a press release which was dated 27th July, 2019.

The press release was geared at addressing the promise their made during their campaign - they promised the students free ride every Friday, Faculty after Faculty. They tagged it "Friday Free Ride".

"Fundamentally, I greet the good and vibrant students of AE-FUNAI in the spirit of Aluta. As we prepare for our examination I want to use this avenue to wish you all success and breakthrough in your various disciplines.

"It is no longer news that the 2019/2020 academic session of the SUG excos has been inaugurated and work have started officially, thereby students won't be left in the dark as far as this administration is concern especially the Directorate of Transport which by the grace of God I pilot the affairs of the said DIRECTORATE.

"Sequel to the numerous promises I tendered to the great students of AE-FUNAI during campaign which one of it is Friday Free Ride.

"I want to specifically bring it to the notice of the entire students that my DIRECTORATE is not sleeping as it regards that promise but am having a little issue as it regards it's implementation because there has been change in power as it concerns the Tricycle/Keke Union at which the agreement was made. This implies that a different Chairman has emerged who is not dancing to the tune and agreement of the previous Chairman of the Union.

"To this effect, I called for a meeting with all registered Tricycle/Keke riders in AE-FUNAI, which I have in attendance my Chief Task Force and other task force members, my media aide and over forty (40) tricyclists, the meeting held at the Stadium at Junction.

"The new Chairman seek that the Union pays some amount of money for the said program on weekly basis which is totally different from what the former Chairman agreed on behalf of the Union but we didn't go into argument because power has changed hands.
We had to dialogue for a way forward in order to achieve our aim and see that AE-FUNAI students are happy.

"Conclusively, the Union requested that I give them some time to meet again and discuss specifically on that issue and get back to me.

"Also, in the said meeting I charged them not to be hard on our dear students and avoid using vulgar words in the course of any dialogue as they have been seen to be aggressive.
I will be glad if you all understand the plight of the DIRECTORATE OF TRANSPORT and be patient with us as it regards the implementation of the said promise as we are working effectively and efficiently to ensure it is a success.

"Thank you all and may God bless you all abundantly, Amen."
